The Town of Chesterfield’s Fire and Emergency Medical Services are provided by East Madison Fire Territory.

East Madison Fire Territory was established on January 1, 2022, through the merger of the Chesterfield Union Township and Richland Township fire departments. The consolidation of these departments sought to enhance the level of emergency services provided to the residents of Madison County, Indiana through the consolidation of resources and expertise leading to improved coverage and response capabilities to its designated area.

East Madison Fire Territory proudly maintains ISO Class 3 rating in areas with hydrant access (including all areas within the Chesterfield town limits). Areas without hydrant access maintain ISO Class 5 rating.
