Chief Joey Cole comes to our community after an extraordinary 37-year career with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. He served 23-years as the county’s D.A.R.E. Officer helping our community’s youth stay drug free. During Chief Cole’s last 8-years with the Sheriff’s Department, he served as the Chief Deputy. Chief Cole’s experience and leadership has exponentially improved the overall operations of the Chesterfield Police Department. His top priorities for the department include community outreach, mental health services, and accountability.

Assistant Chief of Police Cody Painter, cpainter@chesterfield.in.gov

Assistant Chief Painter began his career with the Chesterfield Police Department in 2011. During his career, Assistant Chief Painter has placed a special emphasis on training and standards. He specializes as an instructor in Firearms, Use-of-Force, & Technical Rescue Tactics. Assistant Chief Painter’s duties include oversight of our Patrol, Investigations, Internal Affairs, & Support Division.
