Joseph Cole

Chief of Police

Chief Cole's leadership emphasizes community outreach, mental health services, and professional accountability. 
He joined the agency following a 37-year career with the Madison County Sheriff's Department

Cody Painter

Assistant Chief 

Assistant Chief Painter, a member of the department since 2011.
He specializes in firearms instruction and technical rescue tactics and oversees both the patrol and investigations divisions

The department consists of the Chief, Assistant Chief, 4 full-time officers, and 10 reserve officers.
All personnel are fully certified law enforcement professionals in the State of Indiana

Report Availability

Accident and police reports are considered public record and are available for $8.00 per copy. Redaction may be required for juvenile or victim data

Obtaining Reports
  • In-Person: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Station
  • After Hours: By appointment only
  • Online: Accident reports can be accessed via www.buycrash.com
